Roya is a 59 km long river that runs through France and Italy, divided between the Maritime Alps. The river rises in the mountains of Tende and flows into the Mediterranean Sea, the Ligurian Sea.

More than seven months ago, Alex, an exceptional storm swept through the Roya Valley, destroying a large part of the infrastructure, causing huge landslides and preventing some villages from getting supplies to live. The river literally devoured everything on its banks, causing huge landslides that blocked roads and bridges, now being rebuilt.

I wanted to understand how these masses of stone got in my way, trying to analyse them and give them another shape. The storm left scars in its path, the remains of houses, machinery and scrap metal that also imposed themselves, leaving a trace of the storm.

Another path

It all started by chance, I was just trying to find another way home.

A tree fell on the ground, it stayed like that for three years, lying on the ground before being picked up. All this time people have been passing by this tree forgetting that it fell. At home, the weather is always nice, but when the rain falls on the city, it washes everything away, without thinking about it. I imagined being in Palermo, moving around on Google Street View and other sites, trying to find a way, waiting for something to happen.

I don't smell the smells, I don't hear the screams, but I linger and observe carefully every movement, I have time to think about how I want to make my image, I don't look for the "decisive moment", but I simply think about the image I want to get.

From these digital services and my familiar computer keyboard, I can create an itinerary of images. This itinerary leads me to build my personal vision of my city. A common thread is created through the signposting of my digital wanderings. All of my images, at the end, will speak of my passage, although purely digital.

2019 - 2020

This series of images explores the passage of my path over the last two years of my life. I want to create a magical environment, made of symbols and forms that I try to imagine and compose in a space that is not always defined or studied. From Sicily to France,
the people around me become the actors of small scenes of an intimate and improvised theatre. Unconsciously, a fracture in a wall, a bent tree bring me back to sensations experienced while growing up.

I try to photograph in this way (like a quotation from my memory) through the continuous change of seasons and landscapes that are the settings of my fictions. All these forms, all these actors are part of this "enchanted country" that I create for myself and share through my images... the attempt of a photographic portrait, a poetic crossing that tests my fears, my joys, my constant changes, my odyssey of life.
